In rural Oaxaca, a devoted Muxe (Muxes are part of the Zapotec Indigenous culture in Oaxaca, Mexico. They reject labels of male, female, or travesti and describe themselves as Mexico's "third gender") yearns for a romantic connection with a kindred spirit whilst in the staggering care of her aging matriarch. Her yearning is met with a foreign, trans-masculine documentarian, profiling her familial role and newfound activism.
